Un monstre à Paris (A special day)

Yesterday was such a lovely day. While baby Swann was at the nursery and my man at work, me and my daughter had planned a special day just for us. It was the first time in a very long time that I had a full day dedicated only to Florina, and she loved it as much as I did.
We went to see the movie "Un monstre à Paris" ("A monster in Paris") and we both LOVED it. It is such a charming movie, it was a true enchantment to watch it. I don't know if it will be as good in other languages as it is in French, but I warmly recommend everybody to go and watch it. The scenery is so beautiful (wonderful views of Paris), the characters are funny and witty, the story is such a lovely poem, with hilarious French humour, and the songs are great. Vanessa Paradis and M., who are both talented singers that I like a lot, play and sing in the movie, which makes it even more special.

After the movie we had lunch out at Mc Donald's (it was ages since I had last gone there), then we came back home and worked on some Halloween decorations, listening to Florina's new CD of Beyoncé that she bought with her own money. My God, is she growing...

Now here is the trailer of "Un monstre à Paris", in English :

and now in French:

Honestly, I much prefer the one in French, because it's a better reflection of the movie and the feeling is more French, when the English version is more "sensational American".

If you love Paris, and if you've kept your child's heart alive, you have to see this movie. The characters are so Parisian and I totally identified to Lucille and her manners (tough and proud on the one hand, fragile and tenderhearted on the other hand...) Also, I am proud to see that we French can make movies as good as the big American productions and still stick to our spirit.
Go take your kids to see this movie, and I'm sure they'll dream of coming to Paris one day...

Oh my goodness....I was thinking of this today. When I worked as a childrens designer I went to a licensing fair. Basically companies promoting their films and products for us to stock (I worked for a leading British High Street Retailer) and they were promoting this film. Do you know it was prehaps four years ago, definitely over three because it was before I went on maternity leave with the twins. The promo for this film was just sensational....I fell in love with it. They had this amazing book that looked really old, oh it was just fantastic and I have a postcard that has been on my dressing table ever since.....I've been waiting to see this film for a long time!!!! Glad its good.....hopefully will get to see it soon.
