At the circus (le cirque Pinder)

Yesterday, for the very first time, I participated in a field trip with my daughter's school. Museums, movies, theater plays, parks, castles, I had never been able to be part of the accompanying parents because I was working, or too big and tired pregnant. But this time I could and we went to the circus. Le cirque Pinder. When was the last time I had gone to the circus? ....................(thinking).......... Ages. Actually, I think the last time I set a foot in a circus I was a little girl, and to be honest I hated it when I was a child* **. That's because once, the guy chose me amongst the audiance to decide what the poney should do, and it literally terrorized me - that's silly I know, but I was very shy when I was a kid :)

So yesterday, with a nervous heart, I went with my daughter and her class to see the big circus and let me tell you, it was a real show. Thousands of kids clapping and screaming, elephants sitting down on chairs, lions standing up, pretty girls flying in the air with orange and pink leotards, handsome (am I married?) guys twirling elastic girls on their fingers, horses dancing, Chinese men playing with swords, and a Cech boy who really impressed me with his diabolos, throwing three of them super high in the air and catching them (of course).

I had a chance to see my girl with her class mates, and noticed that amongst her class, she seemed much bigger, although they kept giggling in the metro, and I couldn't stop smiling (I am not a serious mom - apart from when I am upset). I realized she has the same laughter as her father.

The kids had a wonderful time, and so had I, although I couldn't help feeling sorry for the animals...

* Let's not count the day when I was 16 and I went to a village circus without paying.
** I did go to another circus, a beautiful place called Cirque Romanès, but it's different from these big circus, because it's a small Gypsy joint with live musicians, which I absolutely recommand: the leading singer, Delia, is amazing.
