Father's Day

For some reason  it looks like I have a hard time handling celebration days... My own and other people's. So Father's Day was... well, very imperfect. But the kids had fun making Earl a gift (totally handmade) and I had fun making cupcakes.

But he had to work most of the day, which left little time for the celebration, and I guess on my part deciding to help the kids make a gift, baking and decorating cupcakes, helping the kids with their homework, fixing lunch and helping my daughter clean her room (the big "Spring cleaning" kind), all of that while taking care of my baby was a bit too much... And since I always want things to be perfect (BIG mistake) I often find myself disappointed with days like today. But I hope in the end I will only remember the good things about it and so will my man and the kids. And next year we'll try to do better...

But then it felt really sad tonight, when my man came back home after taking his son back to his mother's, knowing that we may not see him for 6 long weeks...

Happy Father's Day to all the fathers, and for those who are not with their children, know that I am sure your kid(s) thought about you, even if they/she/he didn't call or send a card or anything.

Fathers are so important...

Celebrations are hard - or maybe it's more like our expectations are what are so difficult. This is my birthday problem! I'm sure Earl felt celebrated - you made cupcakes for heaven's sake (all while cleaning and taking care of a four month old!;-)
